Retreating Is Not Surrendering — Pause and Purpose
By Mavis Brown Consulting LLC
Why I Stepped Back — Yes, I’ve been absent from my posts and activities for a while, and I want to share why.
I’ve been reminded of a powerful truth: retreating is not surrendering. Sometimes, stepping back isn’t about quitting — it’s about strategy.
For me, it was about recharging, regrouping, reassessing, and returning with renewed energy and sharper focus.
During this time away from the spotlight, I’ve been working deeply behind the scenes — refining, building, and growing.
Foundation: Recognising the difference between facilitation and instruction is essential when designing meaningful, transformative learning experiences. That realization shaped how I approached every piece of content I developed.
I invested this time into:
Designing customizable curricula for both youth and adults
Creating engaging instructional materials — worksheets, handouts, and real-world scenarios
Developing a full-scale catalogue of topics, spanning technical, non-technical, and business-related areas
Structuring workshops, training, and sessions to ensure they’re not only informative but also practical, interactive, and impactful.
This season of intentional retreat has allowed me to emerge more focused and more passionate than ever about delivering learning and development experiences that truly make a difference.
Thanks for your patience — I’m excited to share what’s coming next.
